Product Description:

This combined oral contraceptive uses estradiol valerate, an ester the body converts to natural 17-beta estradiol, in place of ethinylestradiol, with dienogest, a progestogen with anti-androgenic activity. The reference product is a four-phasic 28-day pack: an estrogen step-down and a dienogest step-up across 26 active tablets, then two placebo tablets taken in fixed order from a calendar blister.

It is used for contraception and, in several regulatory regions, for heavy menstrual bleeding without organic cause in women who also want oral contraception. One tablet is taken daily with no break between packs. Missed-pill rules depend on the phase, so the leaflet instructions matter. Contraindications follow those of all combined pills: venous or arterial thrombosis, thrombophilia, migraine with aura, hormone-dependent cancers and smoking over 35. Strong CYP3A4 inducers such as rifampicin, carbamazepine and St John's wort reduce contraceptive effect.
