Supplying Medicines and Supplements to Jordan
A practical guide for Jordanian importers, distributors and hospital buyers who source from abroad, and for manufacturers and exporters worldwide selling into Jordan.

Jordan has one of the region's most established regulators, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). Since 2019 it has used reliance routes: verification in 60 days for products approved by both the FDA and EMA, and abridged review in 90 days with either.
Price is part of the deal. A Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product is required, the product must be marketed in its country of origin, and a pricing committee can reject a product on price.

How to supply medicines to Jordan
- Appoint a local distributor. A Jordanian distributor or agent files and imports for you.
- Prepare the dossier. A CTD dossier with a CoPP, proof the product is marketed in its country of origin, and the plant's GMP evidence.
- Use a reliance route if you can. With both FDA and EMA approval, verification takes 60 days; with either, abridged review takes 90 days. A special route for shortage medicines approved 90 life-saving products in 2024.
- Supply. Private pharmacies and hospitals through your distributor, or public tenders run by the Government Procurement Department, which can now sign framework agreements of up to five years.
Individuals can import up to three months' supply of a medicine with JFDA approval and a prescription. See named-patient and special import and government tender supply.
Supplements
The JFDA approves and registers supplements and sports-nutrition products before sale, and publishes the list of registered products. Plan for JFDA registration before you print labels. We help brands get supplements made under their own label by GMP-certified contract manufacturers: see nutraceutical private label.

The regulator's Arabic name, “المؤسسة العامة للغذاء والدواء”, gets between 10,000 and 100,000 searches a month, as do “jfda” and “صيدلية” (pharmacy). “صيدليات” (pharmacies), “دواء” (medicine), “بروتين” (protein), “فيتامين د” (vitamin D) and “كولاجين” (collagen) each sit between 1,000 and 10,000 (Google Keyword Planner, October 2026).
How importers and distributors in Jordan search
Jordan has real trade searches in Arabic: “شركات الادوية في الاردن” (pharmaceutical companies in Jordan), “شركات الادوية” (pharmaceutical companies) and “مستودع ادوية” (medicine warehouse) each get between 100 and 1,000 searches a month, as does English “pharmaceutical companies in jordan” (Google Keyword Planner).
