Vitamin C: Effervescent Tablets, Chewables and Gummies

Vitamin C is searched in 120 of the 121 countries we studied. Effervescent vitamin C is especially strong in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. We help brands get vitamin C products made in India under their own label.

Effervescent tablets need the right plant

An effervescent tablet fizzes because it contains an acid and a bicarbonate that react when they touch water. The same reaction can start in the factory if the air is humid, so effervescent tablets must be made in very dry rooms and packed in moisture-tight tubes or strips. Not every tablet plant can do this.

Effervescent tablets also contain sodium from the bicarbonate. Many buyers now ask for the sodium per tablet on the label, and some markets require it.

For people who prefer something simpler, vitamin C also works well as chewable tablets and gummies.

What to check before you order

Humidity control

Effervescent tablets need low-humidity rooms. Ask the plant how it controls humidity in making and packing.

Packaging

Tubes with a desiccant cap, or foil strips. The pack must keep moisture out until the last tablet.

Vitamin C content

Content per tablet on the Certificate of Analysis, with an overage to stay on label to the end of shelf life.

Sodium per tablet

Known and declared, for customers who watch their salt intake.

Taste and fizz

Flavour, how quickly it dissolves and how clear the drink is.

Your market

Maximum levels, label format and claims differ by market.

How it works with PharmaTradz

1
Brief

You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.

2
Shortlist

Two or three Indian plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.

3
Formula and samples

We agree the formula, flavour and pack, and you receive samples to taste and test.

4
Label and compliance check

Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.

5
First production

Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.

6
Repeat orders

Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.

Problems we see most often

Tablets that fizz in the tube

Moisture got in during making or packing. Ask about humidity control and the tube closure.

Sodium not declared

Effervescent tablets contain sodium. Some markets require it on the label.

Vitamin C falling over shelf life

Vitamin C degrades with heat and moisture. Agree an overage and stability data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because the ingredients react with moisture. They are made and packed in very dry rooms so the tablets do not start fizzing before use.

Yes. Each added ingredient has its own maximum level and label rules in your market.

It depends on the format and pack. Powders and capsules usually allow smaller first orders than gummies or softgels, because gummy and softgel lines run in larger batches. Tell us your quantity and we will tell you which plants can do it.

Yes. That is what private label means: the vitamin C is made by an Indian manufacturer and packed with your brand, label and barcode. You remain responsible for the product in your market, so check your local rules before you launch.

A Certificate of Analysis for every batch. On request, also third-party lab reports (for example heavy metals and microbiology), certificates such as halal, kosher or GMP, and the export documents your importer needs.
