Gummy Contract Manufacturing
Vitamin, mineral and herbal gummies made under your brand by food-supplement manufacturers in India.
Most gummies are food supplements, not medicines
In most markets gummies are sold as food or dietary supplements rather than medicines. In India they fall under FSSAI's regulations for health supplements and nutraceuticals; in the US under dietary supplement rules, with the FDA's supplement manufacturing rules (21 CFR Part 111); and in the EU under food supplement law. Those rules decide which ingredients and amounts are allowed and what the label may claim.
The format brings its own limits. Gummies are made by cooking a sugar or sugar-free mass and depositing it into moulds, so heat, moisture and the small size of each piece limit what can go in. Vitamins degrade over shelf life, so manufacturers add an overage, and the product should be tested against the label claim at the end of shelf life, not only at release.
We work with manufacturers that already run gummy lines and can show stability data for hot, humid markets. Herbal or Ayurvedic products may need a different licence, so we check the classification first.

What to check in a gummy manufacturer
Licence and supplement GMP
In India, an FSSAI licence covering nutraceutical manufacture; for export, the importing country's rules, such as dietary supplement GMP for the US. Ask for recent audit reports.
Ingredients, doses and claims
Each market sets its own permitted ingredients, maximum amounts and allowed claims. An ingredient sold freely as a supplement in one country can be a prescription medicine in another; melatonin is a common example.
Overage and end-of-shelf-life testing
Vitamins and probiotics lose potency over time. Ask how much overage is used and for assay results at the end of shelf life against the label claim.
Heat and humidity
Gummies can soften, stick together or sweat. Ask for stability data in hot, humid conditions and for the pack design: liner, desiccant and bottle.
Gelatin source and certifications
Gelatin may be bovine or porcine; pectin is plant-based. Check halal, kosher or vegan certificates against the actual raw materials used.
Contaminants
Heavy metals, pesticide residues and microbial limits, especially for herbal extracts. Ask for raw-material and finished-product test results.
Which gummy base fits the product?
| Base | Texture | Suits | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gelatin | Soft and chewy | Most vitamin and mineral gummies | Animal origin; halal or kosher needs a certified source |
| Pectin | Shorter, less chewy bite | Vegan and vegetarian products | Sets with sugar and acid, so not every active is compatible |
| Sugar-free (polyols) | Depends on the base | Sugar-free and reduced-sugar ranges | Laxative effect at high intake; labelling rules for polyols |
Some actives, such as iron or high-dose minerals, are hard to put into a gummy because of taste, size or stability. We check feasibility with the manufacturer before quoting.
How it works with PharmaTradz
You send the product, form, market and volume.
Two or three plants that already make that form, with their approvals and country of manufacture. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement when the requirement is firm.
Samples of an existing gummy, or development batches for a new formula, including taste, texture and stability work.
Your brand, artwork and pack, and the dossier or product file your market needs.
Production with a batch-wise Certificate of Analysis covering the label claims and contaminants. Third-party pre-shipment inspection on request.
Scheduled batches with the same site, materials and documents.
Problems we see most often
Label claim drops over shelf life
Without enough overage or a protective pack, vitamin content falls below the label claim before expiry. Ask for end-of-shelf-life results.
Gummies stick or melt in transit
Heat in containers and warehouses softens gummies into a block. Plan the pack and the shipping season, and test in hot conditions.
Claims not allowed in the target market
A claim accepted in one country can be refused in another. Check the label and claims against your market's rules before printing.
