Supplying Medicines and Supplements to Nicaragua
A practical guide for Nicaraguan importers, distributors and hospital buyers who source from abroad, and for manufacturers and exporters worldwide selling into Nicaragua.

Nicaragua is one of the fastest places to use Central American mutual recognition: a product registered in another member state can be recognised in 10 business days. The regulator also adopted reliance guidelines in 2024.
Read each public tender carefully. Recent health ministry tender documents give priority to products whose manufacturer is in the People's Republic of China, under a 2025 government circular. The private market follows the usual registration rules.

How to supply medicines to Nicaragua
- Find a Nicaraguan importer. Import and distribution must be directed by a pharmacist, so work with a licensed importer.
- Pick the route. A registration in another Central American country can be recognised in 10 business days. Otherwise, allow three to six months.
- Prepare the dossier. A CTD dossier with a CoPP and the plant's GMP evidence.
- Supply. Private distributors and pharmacies. For public tenders, check each tender's origin and preference terms first.

Supplements
Nutritional supplements are registered with the Ministry of Health's national health regulation authority, which publishes its own application form for them. We help brands get supplements made under their own label by GMP-certified contract manufacturers: see nutraceutical private label.
