Omega-3 Fish Oil Softgels: Private Label
Omega-3 is a top supplement search in the US, India, Mexico, Brazil, Germany and Turkey. We help brands get fish oil softgels made in India under their own label.
Freshness and EPA/DHA are what buyers check
Customers judge fish oil on two things: how much EPA and DHA each softgel actually contains, and whether it tastes or smells fishy. The first is about the oil you choose; the second is about freshness.
Standard fish oil carries a modest amount of EPA and DHA per softgel. Concentrated oils carry much more, so fewer softgels make a serving. Ask the supplier to state EPA and DHA in milligrams per softgel, not just the oil weight.
Freshness is measured by oxidation tests: peroxide value, anisidine value and the combined TOTOX figure. Good suppliers report these for every batch and protect the oil from air, heat and light.

What to check before you order
EPA and DHA per softgel
Measured EPA and DHA in milligrams, on the Certificate of Analysis for each batch.
Oxidation
Peroxide value, anisidine value and TOTOX, within the limits you agree.
Contaminants
Heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs, especially for strict markets such as the EU.
Shell
Bovine or fish gelatin, and whether you need a halal shell or an enteric coating to reduce fishy aftertaste.
Source
Fish species and origin; some buyers also ask about sustainability certification.
Your market
Label format and claims for EPA and DHA differ between markets.
Options we can arrange
| Option | Good for | Things to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Standard fish oil softgels | Value products | Softgel size, count per bottle |
| Concentrated omega-3 | Fewer softgels per serving | EPA:DHA ratio, form of the oil |
| Enteric-coated softgels | Less fishy aftertaste | Coating type |
| Kids omega-3 | Children | Smaller softgels or chewables, flavour |
Fish oil is sensitive to heat. Discuss shipping and storage for hot markets.
How it works with PharmaTradz
You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.
Two or three Indian plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.
We agree the oil, EPA/DHA content, softgel size and shell, and you receive samples with their test results.
Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.
Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.
Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.
Problems we see most often
Oil weight shown instead of EPA and DHA
A '1,000 mg fish oil' softgel may contain far less EPA and DHA. Customers increasingly check.
Fishy smell
Usually a sign of oxidation. Agree oxidation limits and packaging that keeps air out.
Heat damage in transit
Softgels can stick together or the oil can oxidise in hot containers. Plan shipping.
