This capsule combines trifluoperazine, a high-potency phenothiazine antipsychotic, with clidinium bromide, a quaternary antimuscarinic that acts on the gut without crossing into the brain. The combination has been used in South Asia for functional gastrointestinal disorders with anxiety — the reasoning being that trifluoperazine at low dose reduces anxiety while clidinium reduces gut spasm and secretion.

The pharmacology of the pairing deserves scrutiny. Trifluoperazine is an antipsychotic, and even at low doses prolonged exposure carries a risk of extrapyramidal symptoms and tardive dyskinesia, which can be irreversible — a serious trade-off for a functional bowel complaint. Clidinium contributes dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation and urinary retention, and is contraindicated in glaucoma and prostatic obstruction. Fixed doses prevent either component being adjusted. Current management of functional gut disorders favours antispasmodics, dietary measures and, where a central agent is needed, low-dose antidepressants rather than antipsychotics.
