Trifarotene is a topical retinoid used for the treatment of acne vulgaris on the face and trunk in patients aged 9 years and older. It works by modulating skin cell turnover, preventing clogged pores, and reducing inflammation, which helps decrease the formation of pimples and blackheads. Applied once daily, it is available as a 0.005% cream in tubes or pumps. Trifarotene is generally well-tolerated, though mild skin irritation, redness, or dryness may occur during initial treatment.

Product Description:

Trifarotene is a topical retinoid with unusually tight selectivity for the retinoic acid receptor gamma, the receptor subtype that predominates in the epidermis. Older retinoids act across several receptor subtypes; targeting gamma specifically is intended to give the comedolytic and anti-inflammatory effects where they are needed with less irritation than tretinoin.

It is used once daily in the evening for acne vulgaris in patients aged twelve and over. Its distinctive feature is that it was studied and licensed for truncal acne — chest, shoulders and back — as well as facial acne, which most topical acne treatments have never been formally tested on despite truncal acne being common and undertreated. Irritation is expected in the first weeks: dryness, redness, stinging and peeling, which are reduced by applying a moisturiser and by starting on alternate nights. It causes photosensitivity, so sun protection is part of treatment. As a retinoid it is avoided in pregnancy.

Sourcing notes. Originator product; patent status varies by market. The pump presentation matters for truncal use, where a tube is impractical for reaching the back, and pump size determines whether a pack covers a realistic treatment area for the licensed period.

Trifarotene — third party manufacturing & bulk supply

Third party manufacturing Manufactured to your specification and packed under your own brand and label — suits distributors and brand owners building a portfolio in their market.
Dossier licensing Where a CTD, EU-CTD or ACTD dossier exists it can often be licensed for filing in your name, compressing market entry from years to months.
