Product Description:

Propylthiouracil, or PTU, is a thiourea antithyroid medicine. It blocks thyroid peroxidase, the enzyme that iodinates tyrosine to build thyroxine and triiodothyronine, so the gland makes less hormone. Unlike carbimazole and methimazole, it also slows conversion of T4 to the more active T3 in the tissues. This page lists 50 mg and 100 mg tablets.
