These granules combine L-arginine with vitamins C and E. Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid and the substrate from which nitric oxide synthase makes nitric oxide, the molecule that dilates blood vessels and supports tissue perfusion. It also feeds the urea cycle, supports collagen formation and is used heavily by immune cells. Vitamins C and E are antioxidants; vitamin C is separately required for collagen cross-linking.

Formulations of this kind are used to support wound healing, particularly in pressure ulcers and after surgery, where arginine-enriched nutrition has some supportive trial evidence when combined with adequate protein and energy intake. The combination is nutritional support, not a treatment in itself, and it works only alongside proper wound care and overall nutrition. One caution matters: a trial of arginine supplementation after myocardial infarction found higher mortality, so it should not be given routinely to patients with recent infarction. Mild gastrointestinal upset is the usual adverse effect.
