Product Description:

This tablet combines two diabetes medicines that work in different ways. Empagliflozin (an SGLT2 inhibitor) makes the kidneys pass extra glucose in the urine. Linagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) keeps the body's own GLP-1 active for longer, so more insulin is released after meals. Together they lower blood sugar more than either alone, with a low risk of hypoglycaemia and no weight gain.

It is used for adults with type 2 diabetes whose sugar is not controlled on one medicine, usually alongside metformin. It is taken once a day in the morning. Empagliflozin also protects the heart and kidneys, which is a main reason for its wide use. Linagliptin needs no dose change in kidney disease, which makes the pair easy to prescribe.
