This is cefixime oral suspension at 100 mg per 5 mL, the standard paediatric strength across most markets. Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin with once-daily dosing, used in otitis media, pharyngitis, urinary tract infection and typhoid fever, with strong Gram-negative activity but weak cover against Staphylococcus aureus.

Once-daily dosing is a genuine advantage in paediatric practice, where adherence over a full course is the principal determinant of outcome and multiple daily doses are frequently missed.

Sourcing notes. Supplied as powder for reconstitution rather than a ready-made liquid, because cephalosporins degrade in aqueous solution.
