Lisdexamfetamine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents, and adults, as well as Binge Eating Disorder (BED) in adults. It works by increasing dopamine and norepinephrine levels in the brain, helping improve focus, attention, and impulse control.

Product Description:

Lisdexamfetamine is dextroamphetamine bonded to the amino acid L-lysine. The conjugate is inactive until red blood cells hydrolyse it after absorption, which releases dextroamphetamine gradually. That rate-limited conversion gives a smooth onset and a duration of up to thirteen or fourteen hours from one morning dose, and it blunts the rapid peak that drives misuse when the drug is snorted or injected — though it does not remove oral abuse potential.

It is used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children aged six and over, adolescents and adults, and in the US for moderate to severe binge eating disorder in adults. It is not approved for weight loss. Adverse effects are the stimulant set: decreased appetite, insomnia, dry mouth, raised heart rate and blood pressure, and growth monitoring in children. Capsule contents can be dissolved in water or yoghurt for patients who cannot swallow capsules, and chewable tablets exist.

Sourcing notes. As an amphetamine prodrug it is controlled as a Schedule II substance in the US and under equivalent national stimulant controls elsewhere, so every shipment needs import and export authorisations, and quota applies. Generics are available in the US, and generic entry in other markets depends on local exclusivity. Registration varies — some markets restrict it to children who have failed methylphenidate.
