Product Description:

About a quarter of the world's population carries TB bacteria in a dormant form. Treating this latent infection stops it turning into active TB, which is the reason WHO pushes TB preventive treatment for people with HIV and for household contacts of TB patients. Isoniazid and rifapentine are two TB medicines that, given together, clear latent infection much faster than isoniazid alone.

The 3HP regimen is one dose a week for 12 weeks (12 doses), instead of six to nine months of daily isoniazid, so far more people complete it. A daily one-month version (1HP) is also used. Liver tests are advised for people at risk of liver injury, and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is usually given alongside. Rifapentine reduces the effect of some medicines, including hormonal contraceptives.
