Product Description:

Aripiprazole oral solution delivers the same atypical antipsychotic as the tablets, as a 1 mg per mL liquid. The molecule partially stimulates dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and blocks 5-HT2A, tempering dopamine activity instead of shutting it down. A liquid suits patients who cannot or will not swallow tablets, younger patients, and doses that fall between tablet strengths. Measuring by volume lets clinicians make small steps when starting or tapering.

Uses follow the tablet labels: schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder and, in some markets, irritability with autism and Tourette's disorder, where many patients are children. The dose is measured with the calibrated cup or oral syringe and given once daily. It replaces tablets milligram for milligram up to 25 mg, but patients on 30 mg tablets receive 25 mg of solution, because the liquid gives higher plasma levels. It contains sugars, typically sucrose and fructose, relevant in diabetes and hereditary fructose intolerance.

Sourcing notes. The solution needs its own registration, separate from tablets, with a dossier in CTD or ACTD format. Check bottle size, measuring device, a child-resistant closure and the in-use shelf life after opening, often six months.
