Product Description:
Ravulizumab is a monoclonal antibody that blocks complement protein C5, stopping the formation of the membrane attack complex that destroys red blood cells in paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH) and damages blood vessels, nerves and muscle junctions in other complement-driven diseases. It was engineered from eculizumab to stay in the body about four times longer.
It is approved for PNH, atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome (aHUS), anti-acetylcholine-receptor-positive generalised myasthenia gravis and AQP4-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). After a weight-based loading dose, maintenance infusions are given every eight weeks. As with all C5 inhibitors, patients must be vaccinated against meningococcal infection before starting.
Sourcing notes. Ravulizumab is patented and there is no biosimilar, while eculizumab biosimilars are already available in several markets. Orders are weight-based and high value, so we confirm the vial mix and cold-chain plan before quoting. Eculizumab and its biosimilars are also listed on PharmaTradz.
