Product Description:
Nefazodone is an antidepressant medication used in the treatment of depression. It belongs to a class of medicines known as serotonin modulators and works by increasing the levels of certain natural substances in the brain that are essential for maintaining mental and emotional balance. By enhancing neurotransmitter activity, nefazodone helps improve mood, relieve depressive symptoms, and support overall psychological well-being.
Nefazodone increases brain serotonin and norepinephrine levels by blocking their reuptake, allowing these neurotransmitters to remain active for a longer duration in the synaptic space. Unlike selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), nefazodone also strongly blocks 5-HT2A receptors, which contributes to its distinct therapeutic profile. In addition, it weakly blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, a mechanism that may contribute to its sedative effects. Nefazodone has minimal action on cholinergic and histaminic receptors, which differentiates it from older classes of antidepressants and reduces certain side effects.
