Product Description:
Gemcitabine hydrochloride is a chemotherapy medication classified as an antimetabolite, which works by mimicking naturally occurring molecules used in DNA synthesis. By substituting for these molecules, Gemcitabine disrupts DNA formation, effectively slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells and other rapidly dividing cells. It is widely used in the treatment of multiple cancers, including pancreatic cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, bladder cancer, and testicular cancer. Administered intravenously, Gemcitabine allows precise dosing and effective delivery directly into the bloodstream, making it suitable for systemic treatment of malignancies. The drug is sold under brand names such as Gemzar, Infugem, and other generic formulations depending on the region. In addition to its anti-cancer activity, Gemcitabine has shown antiviral effects by inhibiting replication of Orthohepevirus A, the virus responsible for hepatitis E, through the upregulation of interferon signaling. As a cytotoxic agent, Gemcitabine is often used alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs to enhance efficacy. Its mechanism of action
