Product Description:

This antacid suspension pairs aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide for acid neutralisation, with simethicone as an antifoaming agent and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. The aluminium-magnesium pairing balances the constipating effect of aluminium against the laxative effect of magnesium. Simethicone disperses trapped gas. Carboxymethylcellulose raises viscosity, which keeps the insoluble antacids suspended and helps the preparation coat the oesophageal and gastric mucosa.

It is used for heartburn, acid indigestion, gastritis symptoms and bloating, typically taken after meals and at bedtime. Relief is fast but brief, and persistent symptoms need investigation rather than continued antacid use. Antacids reduce absorption of tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron, levothyroxine and several other drugs, so doses are separated by two to four hours. Aluminium and magnesium accumulate in advanced renal impairment.

Sourcing notes. This four-ingredient formula is typical of South Asian and some African markets; regulated markets generally register simpler two- or three-ingredient antacids. Buyers should confirm the destination regulator accepts the combination before committing. The aluminium hydroxide content here is high relative to magnesium, which shifts the bowel-effect balance towards constipation.
