Spirulina Manufacturer: Private Label Powder, Tablets and Capsules
Spirulina is grown in ponds and tanks across Asia, the Americas and beyond, and it's one of the best-known green supplements. We help brands find a spirulina manufacturer that grows or sources it cleanly and tests what matters.
It's only as clean as the water it grows in
Spirulina is a blue-green microalga, Arthrospira platensis, grown in shallow ponds or tanks, then harvested, dried and sold as a powder or pressed into tablets. Because it grows in water, the water quality and how the culture is kept clean decide the quality of the product.
The main tests are for heavy metals, microbiology and microcystins, toxins made by some other blue-green algae that can get into a poorly managed culture. Good producers test for these every batch. Many buyers also want organic certification, which is widely available for spirulina.
One label point catches people out: spirulina is not a reliable source of vitamin B12. Most of the B12-like compounds in it are not active in humans, so don't build a vegan B12 claim on spirulina.

What to check before you order
Microcystins
Results for microcystins, toxins that can enter a culture contaminated with other algae, for each batch.
Heavy metals
Lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, measured by an accredited lab.
Microbiology
Total plate count, yeast and mould, and pathogens. Drying and handling matter as much as growing.
Colour and protein
A bright blue-green colour, and the protein and phycocyanin content, are the usual quality markers.
Organic and origin
Organic certificates recognised in your market, and the country where it was grown.
Your market
Label rules, permitted claims, and any import checks on algae products where you sell.

Spirulina has a strong taste and smell. Ask for samples before you choose a flavour or format.
How it works with PharmaTradz
You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.
Two or three GMP-certified plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.
We agree the grade, format and tests, and you receive samples with their results.
Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.
Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.
Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.
Problems we see most often
No microcystin data
A spirulina without microcystin results is a risk to your brand. Ask before you order, not after.
B12 claims
Spirulina is often marketed as a B12 source. Most of its B12-like content is not usable by the body.
Faded colour
Dull, brownish powder usually means poor drying or old stock. Check the harvest and manufacturing dates.
