Probiotics: Private Label Capsules and Sachets

Probiotics are a top supplement search in the US, India, Brazil, Mexico and France. We help brands get probiotic capsules and sachets made in India under their own label.

Count the bacteria at the end, not the start

A probiotic is only as good as the live bacteria it still contains when the customer takes it. Numbers fall over time, faster with heat and moisture, so the figure that matters is the count (in CFU, colony-forming units) at the end of shelf life, not at manufacture. Good suppliers add an overage and give you stability data to support the label.

Strains should be identified to strain level, with a strain code, not just the species. Some strains, such as spore-forming Bacillus types, survive storage better than others, which matters for hot markets and long shipping.

The word 'probiotic' itself is treated as a health claim in many EU countries, so check how you can describe the product in your market.

What to check before you order

Named strains

Genus, species and strain code for each strain, and the source of the strains.

CFU at end of shelf life

Stability data supporting the count on your label until the expiry date.

Storage

Whether the product needs refrigeration or is stable at room temperature, and how it ships.

Capsule type

Acid-resistant or delayed-release capsules help some strains survive the stomach.

Purity

Microbiology results showing no unwanted organisms.

Your market

Rules on the word 'probiotic', permitted strains and claims differ by market.

How it works with PharmaTradz

1
Brief

You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.

2
Shortlist

Two or three Indian plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.

3
Formula and samples

We agree the strains, counts and format, and you receive samples with stability information.

4
Label and compliance check

Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.

5
First production

Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.

6
Repeat orders

Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.

Problems we see most often

Count at manufacture on the label

The count falls over time. A label based on the starting count will be wrong by the end of shelf life.

Heat in transit

A hot container can kill a large share of the bacteria. Choose strains and shipping to match.

Unnamed strains

Without strain codes you cannot check the research or the supplier's claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

Colony-forming units: a measure of how many live bacteria are in a product. The label should show the count that remains at the end of shelf life.

Some do. Others, including spore-forming strains, are stable at room temperature. It depends on the strains and the packaging.

It depends on the format and pack. Powders and capsules usually allow smaller first orders than gummies or softgels, because gummy and softgel lines run in larger batches. Tell us your quantity and we will tell you which plants can do it.

Yes. That is what private label means: the probiotic is made by an Indian manufacturer and packed with your brand, label and barcode. You remain responsible for the product in your market, so check your local rules before you launch.

A Certificate of Analysis for every batch. On request, also third-party lab reports (for example heavy metals and microbiology), certificates such as halal, kosher or GMP, and the export documents your importer needs.
