Pre-Workout Manufacturer: Private Label Pre-Workout Powders

Pre-workout is where sports-nutrition brands show their personality: the flavour, the formula, the feel. It's also where label mistakes are easiest to make. We help brands find a pre-workout manufacturer that gets both right.

A formula with rules attached

A typical pre-workout combines caffeine with ingredients such as beta-alanine, citrulline malate, creatine, taurine and arginine, flavoured to mix into water. Each ingredient has its own rules on how much you can use and what you can say about it, and those rules differ by market.

Caffeine needs the most care. In the EU and the UK, food supplements with added caffeine must state the caffeine content and carry a warning that they are not recommended for children or pregnant women. In the US, the FDA has warned against selling highly concentrated caffeine in bulk to consumers. Stimulants such as DMAA are not allowed in supplements at all, and a good manufacturer won't touch them.

If you sell to athletes, banned-substance testing by an independent programme is worth the cost. And show every ingredient and its amount on the label: buyers increasingly avoid 'proprietary blends' that hide the doses.

  • Caffeine per serving, or stimulant-free
  • Flavours and sweeteners

What to check before you order

Caffeine per serving

Within the limits and warnings of your market, and measured on the Certificate of Analysis.

Every ingredient allowed

Each ingredient permitted in your market at the amount you want. Some common US ingredients are not allowed in the EU or elsewhere.

Banned-substance testing

Independent testing against the anti-doping list, if you sell to athletes.

Flavour and mixing

Taste, how it mixes and how it looks in the glass. Expect a few rounds of samples.

Clumping

Several pre-workout ingredients absorb moisture. Good packaging and a desiccant keep the powder loose.

A clear label

Every ingredient and amount shown, with the warnings your market requires.

Beta-alanine gives many people a tingling feeling. It's well known and usually passes quickly, and some brands mention it on the label so customers aren't surprised.

How it works with PharmaTradz

1
Brief

You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.

2
Shortlist

Two or three GMP-certified plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.

3
Formula and samples

We agree the formula, flavours and pack, and you test samples until the taste and feel are right.

4
Label and compliance check

Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.

5
First production

Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.

6
Repeat orders

Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.

Problems we see most often

Ingredients not allowed in your market

A formula copied from a US product may include ingredients that are not permitted in the EU, the UK or the Gulf.

Missing caffeine warnings

Caffeine content and warnings are required in many markets. Leaving them out is a common reason for relabelling.

Clumped powder

Moisture gets in and the powder sets hard. Plan the packaging for humid climates.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the market. Some countries set a maximum per serving or per day for supplements, and the EU and UK require the caffeine content and a warning on the label. We check your formula against the rules where you sell.

Yes. Stimulant-free or 'pump' formulas usually build on ingredients such as citrulline, with the flavour doing a lot of the work.

Ask which of your ingredients they already use, how they measure caffeine in each batch, whether they can support banned-substance testing, and how they stop the powder clumping. Then taste the samples with your target customers.

It depends on the format and pack. Powders and capsules usually allow smaller first orders than gummies or softgels, because gummy and softgel lines run in larger batches. Tell us your quantity and we will tell you which plants can do it.

Yes. That is what private label means: the pre-workout is made by a contract manufacturer and packed with your brand, label and barcode. You remain responsible for the product in your market, so check your local rules before you launch.

A Certificate of Analysis for every batch. On request, also third-party lab reports (for example heavy metals and microbiology), certificates such as halal, kosher or GMP, and the export documents your importer needs.
