Magnesium Glycinate and Citrate: Private Label Supplements
Magnesium glycinate is one of the biggest supplement searches in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and India. We help brands get magnesium products made in India in the form and format they want.
Elemental magnesium decides the serving
Magnesium is sold as a salt, and each salt carries a different amount of actual (elemental) magnesium. Magnesium oxide is mostly magnesium, while glycinate and citrate carry much less per gram. That is why a glycinate product often needs two or three capsules for a useful serving.
So when you compare quotes, compare the elemental magnesium per serving, not the weight of the salt. Your label should show the elemental amount, and the Certificate of Analysis should support it.
Glycinate (also sold as bisglycinate) and citrate are the forms customers ask for most. Some brands blend forms to keep the capsule count down.
Tell us this to get a quote
- Magnesium form (glycinate, bisglycinate, citrate, malate, oxide) and elemental magnesium per serving
- Format: powder, capsule, tablet, softgel, gummy or sachet
- Pack: tub, bottle, pouch or blister, and the count per pack
- Quantity for the first order and per year
- Target market(s) and where you will sell (pharmacy, online, gyms, export)
- Certifications you need: halal, kosher, vegan, organic
- Your artwork, or whether you need help with labels
What to check before you order
Elemental magnesium
The amount of magnesium itself per serving, which is what your label must show.
Form and assay
Proof that the salt is the form you paid for, for example fully reacted glycinate rather than a blend with oxide, unless you chose a blend.
Serving size
How many capsules or tablets make a serving, and whether customers will accept that.
Contaminants
Heavy metals and microbiology on the Certificate of Analysis.
Added ingredients
Vitamin B6, zinc or L-theanine are common additions, each with its own rules.
Your market
Permitted magnesium forms, maximum levels and claims differ between the US, EU, UK and other markets.
Formats we can arrange
| Format | Good for | Things to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Capsules | Glycinate and citrate products | Capsules per serving, vegetarian shell |
| Tablets | Higher doses in fewer units | Tablet size and swallowability |
| Powder | Large servings, drink mixes | Flavour, scoop size |
| Gummies | Convenient, lower-dose products | Magnesium per gummy is limited |
If a competitor shows a high magnesium figure on a small capsule, check whether it is the salt weight or the elemental magnesium.
How it works with PharmaTradz
You send the product, format, strength per serving, market, pack and the quantity you have in mind.
Two or three Indian plants that already make that format, with their licences, certifications and export history. Names under a confidential disclosure agreement once the requirement is firm.
We agree the form, elemental dose and format, and you receive samples with their test results.
Your brand and artwork, checked against the rules of the market you sell in: label format, permitted ingredients and levels, and the claims you are allowed to make.
Batch made with a Certificate of Analysis, and third-party test reports where your market or your retailer asks for them.
Same plant, same formula and same specifications, scheduled to your sales.
Problems we see most often
Salt weight shown as magnesium
Showing the weight of the glycinate as if it were magnesium misleads customers and breaks label rules in most markets.
Cheaper oxide mixed in
Some low-priced 'glycinate' contains oxide. Ask for the specification and test method.
Too many capsules
A product that needs four or five capsules a day often disappoints customers. Plan the serving first.
