Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the oxicam group. It blocks both cyclo-oxygenase enzymes, cutting the prostaglandins that drive pain, swelling and stiffness in inflamed joints. Its half-life is long, around two days, so one daily dose is enough. This page covers tablets of 10 mg and 20 mg. After a European safety review in 2007, piroxicam lost its place as a first choice NSAID there.
