Product Description:
Nafarelin is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist used in the management of hormone-dependent conditions. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of endometriosis and central precocious puberty, and is also used in selected cases for uterine fibroids and hormone regulation protocols. By continuously stimulating GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland, nafarelin initially increases luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) release, followed by receptor down-regulation and suppression of sex hormone production. This results in reduced estrogen or testosterone levels, depending on the treatment context.
Through its hormone-suppressing action, nafarelin helps control symptoms driven by excess sex hormones, such as endometrial tissue growth and early pubertal changes. It is also used in controlled ovarian stimulation programs for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in certain gender-affirming hormone therapy protocols to suppress endogenous hormone production. Nafarelin is marketed under brand names such as Synarel and is prescribed under specialist supervision, with treatment duration and dosing tailored to the specific indication and patient response.
