Product Description:

Iso-amyl 2-cyanoacrylate is a liquid monomer used as a topical tissue adhesive. On contact with moisture on the skin it polymerises within seconds into a flexible film that holds the wound edges together and covers them. Its longer five-carbon side chain makes it more flexible and less heat-producing as it sets than short-chain glues such as ethyl cyanoacrylate. It is a medical device, not an injectable medicine: the 0.25 mL presentation is a sterile, single-use ampoule for one wound.

Surgeons and emergency teams use it to close clean, low-tension skin incisions and lacerations, after deeper layers have been sutured where needed, instead of skin stitches or staples. The edges are brought together and dried, and a thin layer is applied on top, never inside the wound, since adhesive between the edges delays healing. It is not for infected or contaminated wounds, mucous membranes, high-tension areas or use near the eye without protection. The film flakes off on its own as the skin heals.
