Product Description:
Indocyanine Green (ICG) is a fluorescent cyanine dye widely used as a diagnostic agent in clinical medicine. It is primarily administered intravenously to assess cardiac output, hepatic function, liver and gastric blood flow, and for ophthalmic and cerebral angiography. ICG binds tightly to plasma proteins, remaining confined to the vascular system, which allows accurate visualization of blood circulation in various organs. Its peak spectral absorption occurs at approximately 800 nm, enabling near-infrared imaging that penetrates retinal layers more effectively than conventional fluorescein angiography.
ICG is rapidly cleared from the bloodstream by the liver, with a half-life of 3 to 4 minutes, and is excreted exclusively in bile. The drug is typically supplied as a sterile lyophilized powder, often combined with a small amount of sodium iodide to improve solubility, and reconstituted in water or other suitable solvents before use. It is marketed under brand names such as IC-Green and ICG-Pulsion in the United States and Europe.
