Product Description:

Clopidogrel is an oral antiplatelet medicine of the thienopyridine group. It is a prodrug: the liver converts it, largely through CYP2C19, into an active metabolite that binds the P2Y12 receptor on platelets and stops ADP from activating them. The block is irreversible and lasts for the life of each platelet, around seven to ten days. This page lists film-coated tablets of clopidogrel bisulfate. The 75 mg tablet is the daily maintenance dose, and the 300 mg tablet exists for the single loading dose given when fast onset is needed.

Clopidogrel is used after a recent heart attack or ischaemic stroke and in peripheral arterial disease, to cut the chance of further atherothrombotic events. With aspirin it forms dual antiplatelet therapy after acute coronary syndromes and stenting. It appears on the WHO essential medicines list. Bleeding is the main risk, and it is usually paused several days before planned surgery. Poor CYP2C19 metabolisers respond weakly, and omeprazole or esomeprazole reduce activation, so labels advise against combining them.

Sourcing notes. The tablets are prescription-only and registered nationally, usually on a generic CTD or ACTD dossier with bioequivalence data. The bisulfate salt has more than one crystal form, so the dossier should name the polymorph and show it stays stable. The tablets are moisture-sensitive, and high-barrier aluminium blisters are common, which matters in zone IVb. Ask for a batch CoA, GMP certificate and CoPP, and confirm the 300 mg strength is registered where you sell. Quote strength, pack size and blister type.
