Product Description:

This is the oral suspension presentation of cefdinir, a third-generation oral cephalosporin used principally in paediatric practice for otitis media, pharyngitis, sinusitis and skin infections. The suspension is where most cefdinir volume sits, since the indications are dominated by childhood infection.

Palatability matters more here than in most formulations. Paediatric antibiotic suspensions fail on adherence when children refuse them, and taste-masking is a genuine formulation discipline rather than a cosmetic concern — a poorly masked product will be reported as ineffective when it has simply not been taken.

The iron interaction applies as it does to the capsule: concurrent iron produces a harmless reddish discoloration of stool through formation of a non-absorbable complex, and absorption is reduced by iron and by magnesium- or aluminium-containing antacids.
