Product Description:
Triclabendazole is an oral anthelmintic medication primarily used for the treatment of fascioliasis and paragonimiasis, two parasitic infections caused by liver and lung flukes, respectively. It is highly effective against both adult and immature stages of these parasites and is considered the drug of choice for chronic fascioliasis. The medication is usually administered orally in one or two doses, depending on the severity of infection, and treatment may sometimes require hospital supervision in more severe cases.
Triclabendazole works by disrupting the microtubular structure and energy metabolism of the parasites, leading to their death and eventual expulsion from the body. Therapy is generally well tolerated, though some patients may experience mild side effects such as abdominal pain, nausea, or transient liver enzyme elevations, which are typically related to the clearance of dead or dying flukes rather than direct liver injury.
Due to its potency, convenient dosing, and targeted action, triclabendazole is widely used for managing liver and lung fluke infections in both humans and animals, ensuring rapid parasite clearance and relief of infection-related symptoms.
