Product Description:
MYOBLOC (rimabotulinumtoxinB) injection is a sterile liquid formulation containing a purified botulinum neurotoxin designed for therapeutic use in controlled medical settings. It acts at the neuromuscular junction, where it inhibits the release of acetylcholine, leading to temporary flaccid paralysis of targeted muscles. This mechanism makes it effective for the management of specific neuromuscular conditions that require localized muscle relaxation.
The active neurotoxin is produced through the fermentation of Clostridium botulinum type B, specifically the Bean strain. In its natural state, the neurotoxin exists as a complex in noncovalent association with hemagglutinin and nonhemagglutinin proteins, which help maintain stability during processing. Following fermentation, the neurotoxin complex is carefully recovered and subjected to multiple purification steps.
