Product Description:

Flurbiprofen is a propionic acid NSAID that blocks cyclo-oxygenase and cuts prostaglandin production in inflamed tissue. In an 8.75 mg lozenge it acts mainly on the throat lining as the lozenge dissolves, giving a local anti-inflammatory effect at a dose well below oral tablet strengths. That is the point of this form: a short-course, self-care product for the pain and swelling of acute sore throat. Lozenges are usually sugar or isomalt based, in honey and lemon or orange flavours, and sugar-free versions exist.

Adults and children over 12 dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth, moving it around, every three to six hours as needed, up to five in 24 hours and for no more than three days. The usual NSAID contraindications apply: aspirin or NSAID hypersensitivity, including NSAID-triggered asthma, peptic ulceration, severe heart, liver or kidney failure, and the last trimester of pregnancy. Mouth tingling and taste change are common. A sore throat lasting beyond three days, or with high fever, needs medical review.

Sourcing notes. Lozenges pick up moisture and can soften or stick together, so packaging carries much of the stability burden; sealed blister strips are the norm. Ask for zone IVb stability data if you serve hot humid markets. Each batch CoA should show assay, uniformity of content, related substances and microbial limits. The GMP certificate, a CoPP and a CTD or ACTD dossier complete the file. Status differs: pharmacy medicine in many markets, prescription in others. No cold chain is needed. Specify flavour, sugar-free or not, lozenges per pack and label language.
