Product Description:
Ferric derisomaltose is a colloidal complex of iron(III) and a short-chain isomaltooligosaccharide that releases iron gradually to the body's own iron-transport and storage proteins. In the US it is approved for iron deficiency anaemia in adults who cannot tolerate oral iron or have not responded well to it, and in adults with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (reference brand: Monoferric). In the EU, Australia and other markets it is indicated for iron deficiency when oral iron is ineffective or cannot be used, or when iron has to be delivered quickly (reference brand: Monofer).

Regulatory files and timing
The FDA list of Drug Master Files (third quarter 2026) shows 1 active Type II API DMF for this molecule. Few filings usually means few qualified sources, so early contact with suppliers pays off. For Europe, ask whether the supplier holds a CEP or an EU ASMF and, for imports into the EU, a written confirmation.
Generic or biosimilar entry. United States: Patent expiry; entry not confirmed (Aug 2029 (compound patent)). European Union: No confirmed date.
Handling and quality points
Ferric derisomaltose is a non-biological complex drug, so its quality depends heavily on the manufacturing process and cannot be fully described by a single assay. Buyers should look closely at the characterisation package: total iron, labile or free iron, carbohydrate content and the molecular weight distribution of the complex, with evidence that these stay consistent from batch to batch. Because the substance goes into intravenous products, tight limits on endotoxin, bioburden and elemental impurities are expected.

Ferric Derisomaltose API — third party manufacturing & bulk supply
Ferric Derisomaltose API is available through PharmaTradz for wholesale and bulk supply as well as on a third party (contract) manufacturing basis. Buyers sourcing this product generally take one of three routes:
Indicative minimum order quantity
Ferric Derisomaltose API is supplied as API (drug substance) — a dosage form priced by order value, so the indicative MOQ is a minimum order value of USD 5,000 per product. Actual MOQ is confirmed by the allocated manufacturer against your pack presentation and destination market. See full supply terms for dossier formats, market availability and shelf life.
Manufacturers of Ferric Derisomaltose API listed on PharmaTradz hold site-level approvals across WHO-GMP, EU-GMP, USFDA, ANVISA and TGA, verified at onboarding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most buyers start with the GMP certificate, a US DMF letter of access or an EU ASMF where one has been filed, and a recent certificate of analysis that reports iron content and molecular weight distribution. For a complex like this, physicochemical characterisation data against the reference product, stability data and an elemental impurity assessment usually matter as much as the CoA. A CEP is unlikely to be available, as there is no Ph. Eur. monograph to certify against.
Not quite. Regulators treat intravenous iron-carbohydrate products as complex, nano-sized colloids, and they expect a detailed physicochemical comparison with the reference product rather than chemical identity alone; some regions also ask for non-clinical or clinical data. Ask the supplier early what comparative characterisation they hold and how they keep the process locked.
Yes. PharmaTradz puts licensed formulation manufacturers, CDMOs and R&D teams in touch with GMP-compliant makers of ferric derisomaltose, and we review the supplier's documents before any introduction. Your company details stay confidential until both parties agree to share them.
