Product Description:

Axitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks VEGF receptors 1, 2 and 3, cutting off the signals tumours use to grow new blood vessels. It is approved for advanced renal cell carcinoma, as first-line treatment together with pembrolizumab or avelumab, and on its own after failure of one prior systemic therapy (reference brand: Inlyta).

Regulatory files and timing

The FDA list of Drug Master Files (third quarter 2026) shows 7 active Type II API DMFs for this molecule. Few filings usually means few qualified sources, so early contact with suppliers pays off. For Europe, ask whether the supplier holds a CEP or an EU ASMF and, for imports into the EU, a written confirmation.

Generic or biosimilar entry. United States: No confirmed date. European Union: No confirmed date.

Handling and quality points

Axitinib is known for extensive polymorphism, so the crystal form must be defined by XRPD, shown to be stable on storage and matched to the form used in your formulation and filing. Its aqueous solubility is very low across the physiological pH range, which makes particle size a key specification. It is a potent anticancer kinase inhibitor normally handled under containment, and because the vinylpyridine group is the (E)-isomer, E/Z isomer control should be in the specification.

Axitinib API — third party manufacturing & bulk supply

Axitinib API is available through PharmaTradz for wholesale and bulk supply as well as on a third party (contract) manufacturing basis. Buyers sourcing this product generally take one of three routes:

Wholesale / bulk supply Stock or scheduled supply from an existing manufacturer. The fastest route where the product is already registered in your market.
Third party manufacturing Manufactured to your specification and packed under your own brand and label — suits distributors and brand owners building a portfolio in their market.
Dossier licensing Where a CTD, EU-CTD or ACTD dossier exists it can often be licensed for filing in your name, compressing market entry from years to months.

Indicative minimum order quantity

Axitinib API is supplied as API (drug substance) — a dosage form priced by order value, so the indicative MOQ is a minimum order value of USD 5,000 per product. Actual MOQ is confirmed by the allocated manufacturer against your pack presentation and destination market. See full supply terms for dossier formats, market availability and shelf life.

Manufacturers of Axitinib API listed on PharmaTradz hold site-level approvals across WHO-GMP, EU-GMP, USFDA, ANVISA and TGA, verified at onboarding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expect to request the GMP certificate, a certificate of analysis tested to the USP monograph or an equivalent in-house specification, and polymorph data. For filings, a US DMF letter of access and an EU ASMF or CEP where available are needed. Buyers also ask for stability data and a nitrosamine risk assessment.

Axitinib can crystallise in many forms, and they differ in stability and dissolution. Specify the form used in your reference formulation, ask the supplier for XRPD on every batch and for stress data showing no conversion, and check whether patents cover the form on offer in your markets.

Yes. We connect licensed manufacturers, CDMOs and R&D teams with GMP-compliant axitinib makers, and the paperwork is checked before introductions. Buyer identities are only shared when both sides agree.
