Sachet contains Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 60000IU. It is used to treat and prevent Vitamin D deficiency. Product Description:

Cholecalciferol is vitamin D3, the form the skin makes from 7-dehydrocholesterol under ultraviolet B light. It is not really a vitamin but a prohormone: the liver converts it to calcidiol, the kidney converts that to calcitriol, and calcitriol acts on receptors throughout the body, principally to increase calcium absorption from the gut and maintain bone mineralisation. Deficiency is widespread wherever sun exposure is limited by latitude, clothing, indoor work or skin pigmentation.

The 60000 IU sachet is a high-dose intermittent preparation. This is the point that most needs stating: it is designed to be taken weekly or monthly on a defined schedule, not daily. Taken daily it produces hypercalcaemia, with nausea, confusion, kidney stones and renal impairment. Given correctly it is an efficient way to correct established deficiency, and adherence is better than with daily dosing. Vitamin D is fat-soluble and is absorbed better with food.
